Mehli Mistry ousted from Tata Trusts

MUMBAI: Mehli Mistry, a close confidant of the late Ratan Tata and a member of the Shapoorji Pallonji family, has been removed from the Tata Trusts.

A proposal to reappoint Mistry to the boards of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and the Sir Ratan Tata Trust was opposed by three of the six board members- Noel Tata, Chairman of Tata Trusts; Venu Srinivasan, Chairman Emeritus of the TVS Group; and former Defence Secretary Vijay Singh.

In the Dorabji Trust, Darius Khambata and Pramit Jhaveri supported Mistry’s reappointment, while in the Ratan Tata Trust, Darius Khambata and Jehangir H. Jehangir backed him. The Tata Trusts follow a rule that reappointments of trustees must be made unanimously.
