NEW DELHI: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday posed for a photograph with Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh, whom Pakistan had falsely claimed to have captured during Operation Sindoor. Pakistani media had earlier reported that a fighter jet flown by Shivangi Singh was shot down and that she had been taken into custody- a claim that has now been proven completely false.

The photo was taken at the Ambala Air Force Station in Haryana, after President Murmu flew in the new Rafale fighter jet. The image, showing the President and Shivangi Singh standing together beside the Rafale, has now become a strong response to Pakistan’s fake propaganda. Pakistan had claimed to have shot down six Indian fighter jets, but India not only denied the claim but also presented evidence showing that Pakistan lost six of its own aircraft during the operation.

Following this, Pakistani media circulated more fake reports alleging that Shivangi's aircraft was shot down and that she had been captured. They even released doctored photos showing the Air Chief Marshal meeting Shivangi's parents, which India later exposed as fake. Shivangi Singh is India’s first woman Rafale fighter jet pilot. Reports also state that she was trained by Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman, the IAF officer who was captured and later released by Pakistan in 2019 after a dogfight over the Line of Control.
