THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More information has surfaced regarding the arrest of an Akshaya Centre employee in connection with a student appearing for the NEET exam using a fake hall ticket. Greeshma, an employee at the Akshaya Centre in Neyyattinkara, was arrested by the Pathanamthitta police. She had earlier confessed to generating the forged hall ticket.
According to Greeshma’s statement to the police, the hall ticket was created at the Akshaya Centre itself. She said, "The student's mother had entrusted me with submitting the NEET application and had paid Rs 1850 in advance for the same. However, due to a busy schedule, I forgot to apply."
"When the student learned that the hall tickets had been released, he visited the Akshaya Centre multiple times. It was then that I decided to create a fake hall ticket. Since the exam centre was in Pathanamthitta, I initially thought the student wouldn’t go to attend the exam. I got the address of an institution in Pathanamthitta from Google and used it on the fake hall ticket. However, I forgot to alter the barcode and certificate, though the rest of the details were altered," Greeshma told the police.
The forgery was committed on the hall ticket issued to a student from Parassala in Thiruvananthapuram. Yesterday, the student arrived at the Thykav School exam centre in Pathanamthitta with a fake hall ticket. Invigilators grew suspicious in their initial inspection. The student was allowed to write the exam for an hour, during which officials discovered that another candidate with the same roll number was writing the exam at a centre in Thiruvananthapuram. Following this, the exam authorities filed a complaint, and the student and his mother were taken into police custody for questioning.
