Three arrested with 2.5 kg ganja in Thrissur; Palakkad excise seizes 18.6 kg of illegal tobacco

THRISSUR: Three persons were caught by the excise with 2.5 kg ganja in their car during the inspection conducted in connection with the Onam special drive in Thrissur. Anish from Ponganangad Thrissur, Vishnu from Peechi and Amal from Thalikkulam were arrested. The gang smuggled ganja, known as Orissa Gold, which fetches a huge price in the market, to be sold on the occasion of Onam.

Vadanapally Excise Inspector VG Sunilkumar and team conducted the inspection. Preventive Officers Haridas, Vijayan, Civil Excise Officers Ranjith, Basil, Abhijith, Civil Excise Officer Driver Rajesh also participated in the inspection.

Palakkad Excise Special Squad seized 18.6 kg of prohibited tobacco products during the inspections conducted on the instructions of Circle Inspector. The raid took place in places like Palakkad Kalmandapam and Stadium Bus Stand area.
