THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former DGP and Vattiyoorkavu ward councilor R. Sreelekha explained why she raised slogans against the police. In a Facebook post, she alleged that Vattiyoorkavu SHO Vipin, sub inspector Deepu Pillai, and other police officers have been targeting and assaulting BJP workers for over a month.
She said as per directions of CPM leaders; the police have been falsely implicating BJP workers in cases and brutally assaulting them. She also alleged that even a BJP worker who complained that his wife was sexually harassed and subjected to indecent exposure by a CPM worker was dragged into a police vehicle and severely beaten. She said Binu, who was injured below the eye, was taken to the AR camp in a blood-soaked condition and dumped there. Those who were assaulted are still undergoing treatment at the medical college hospital. No case has been registered against the police officers involved. Sreelekha added that it is painful to witness such incidents and that she feels ashamed to have served in such a force. She questioned whether people’s hatred toward the police is really without reason.

‘ I retired from DGP post
I, who proudly served in the police force for more than 33 years..
If I have to raise slogans against the police like this, what could be the reason?
Vattiyoorkavu SHO Vipin, sub inspector Deepu Pillai, and 7 to 8 other police officers have been, for over a month, selectively targeting BJP workers, filing cases against them, and assaulting them--all at the behest of CPM members!
On April 19, at the Edappazhani temple, after a CPM worker allegedly trespassed, sexually harassed a woman, and exposed himself, the BJP worker who complained, along with others, was dragged into a police van and brutally beaten. Binu suffered an injury below the eye and was taken, bleeding, to the AR camp and left there.
There is not even a single case against them, yet the police told them to get admitted to the hospital. Those who were beaten are still in the medical college hospital. There has been no action or case against the police officers who did this!
Seeing this makes one feel miserable. It brings shame to think that I worked for so long in such a force!
Is it without reason that people hate the police this much?”
