MALAPPURAM: A 21-year-old youth allegedly sold a broken-down car to scrap dealers without the owner's knowledge. The vehicle belonged to Pareechi Siddique of Vattamkulam. The car was parked on the roadside in front of Siddique's house for several years over some mechanical issues.

Seeing a lorry and an earthmover, Siddique’s wife enquired about it. They said that they were coming from a firm in Pattambi purchasing scrap materials. They also said that a deal has been fixed for buying the car after paying an amount for old items. Siddique, who was not at home then, rushed home after being informed. The dealers were stunned when Siddique told him that he had not authorized anyone to sell it. The matter was then reported to the Changaramkulam Police.

Based on information provided by the scrap dealers, it was found that a youth from Padinjarangadi was behind the fraud. He took money from them after claiming that the vehicle belonged to him. He had even taken them to the location and shown them the car.

The youth was taken into custody and brought to the Changaramkulam Police Station. However, the dispute was later settled amicably. The youth agreed to return the money he had received from the scrap dealers and also promised to repair any damage caused while the car was being loaded onto the lorry. Following this assurance, the issue was resolved without further action.
