ALAPPUZHA: Actor Sreenath Bhasi on Tuesday recorded a confidential statement before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court 1 in Cherthala in connection with the high-profile hybrid ganja case. Bhasi, a key witness in the case, appeared before the court at 2:30 PM, and the proceedings concluded an hour later.

The actor had earlier submitted statements to the Excise Department regarding his personal communications, financial dealings, and friendship with the prime accused, Taslim Sultana. His confidential deposition was recorded at the request of the investigating officer to prevent any potential contradictions during the trial phase.

During questioning, Bhasi reportedly admitted to the use of narcotic substances and had also expressed his willingness to receive support from the Excise Department to overcome his drug dependency.

The court also recorded the confidential statement of Sreejith, the registered owner of the car allegedly used in the transportation of cannabis. Sreejith had filed a petition seeking the release of his vehicle, claiming that he had given the car for rent. However, the court deferred a decision on the petition until after his testimony was recorded. The court will record the confidential statements of the other four witnesses tomorrow. These include Amrutha, the owner of the flat involved in the investigation; Prasoon and Abdu, who have been linked through call data and financial records; and Mahima, the individual whose driving license was allegedly used to rent the vehicle.
