THRISSUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Thrissur in Kerala extending New Year wishes to Malayalees. He commenced his speech addressing the people as "My mothers and sisters in Kerala." Modi paid tribute to NSS community leader Mannath Padmanabhan and highlighted the significance of Vadakkumnatha Temple and Thrissur Pooram. Notably, he praised prominent women like singer Nanchiamma, PT Usha, Anju Bobby George terming them "daughters of the nation" for their remarkable contributions.

Modi criticized past governments for neglecting women's empowerment alleging the concealment of reserved opportunities for women. He credited his government for implementing reservations and safeguarding women's dignity citing the prevention of practices like triple talaq. During his speech, Modi reiterated his commitment to various government schemes including Ujjwala Yojana, sanitation initiatives, Mudra loans, extended maternity leave and the admission of girls to military schools.
