THRISSUR: In a timely intervention, the local police rescued an 11-year-old boy who had hidden in a wooded area near railway tracks following a disagreement with his mother. The incident, which triggered a brief suspension of train services, occurred on Monday afternoon near Muriyad.

The boy reportedly fled his home around 1:20 PM on Monday and ran toward the Muriyad railway tracks after a spat with his mother. When the family was unable to locate him, a local resident alerted the Aloor Police Station.

Upon receiving the tip, a female Civil Police Officer (CPO) immediately alerted patrolling units and the station’s communication network. Acting on the directives of Thrissur Rural District Police Chief B. Krishnakumar, an intensive search operation was launched. The search was coordinated by Aloor SHO K.V. Harikkuttan and Principal SI Manu P. Cherian.

Recognising the immediate danger posed by oncoming traffic, the police contacted railway authorities to halt train movements through the sector temporarily.
During the subsequent trackside search, officers discovered the boy hiding among trees and thickets adjacent to the rails. After successfully calming the child, the police escorted him back to his residence and reunited him with his family.
