
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Eminent journalist and author K.G. Parameswaran Nair passed away on Wednesday at his residence on Society Road in Thrikkannapuram. He was 94.
In a career spanning over three and a half decades, Parameswaran Nair was a prominent face of the Kerala Kaumudi daily, where he served for 35 years. Known for his insightful legislative coverage, he authored several highly regarded books, including Kerala Niyamasabha: Charithravum Dharmavum.
Over his distinguished career, Parameswaran Nair was decorated with 13 prestigious accolades for his contributions to journalism. Among them are the K.C. Sebastian Memorial Award, the K.V. Vijayaraghavan Award, the K. Balakrishnan Award, the P.C. Sukumaran Nair Award, and the Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pillai Award. He also received the G. Karthikeyan Memorial Award for best legislative reporting. Notably, two of his major awards were conferred to him personally by former Presidents of India, Dr. K.R. Narayanan and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
Parameswaran Nair is survived by his wife, Subhadramma, a noted music teacher and dubbing artist; his daughters, Rajeshwari (Hindustan Latex) and Suja (LIC Housing Finance); and his sons-in-law, Rajasekharan (former Akashvani announcer) and Sunil Kumar (Employees' Provident Fund).
