THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The intensive drive to clear the pending files in Kerala skidded off before reaching the target. This was the second attempt made after the first one suffered a similar fate of not meeting the target numbers. As of December 15, more than 93,104 files are piled up and dusted on the shelves and tables of the secretariat. The second schedule of the intensive drive ran from June 2022 to September 30. The mission failed to meet the required target, so the process was extended to December 30, only to fail again. During the intensive drive, 82,401 out of 1,75,415 flies were cleared. It is expected that the introduction of E-files will put an end to the dreaded culture of pending files that needs crucial attention.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan once made statements that each file has a life behind it and hence it should be dealt with in a humane way, and said despite several initiatives still there is lack of effort on the part of the government employees in clearing the pending files.
