KOCHI: Film actress and television anchor Subi Suresh died here Wednesday. She was 42. She died at a private hospital in Aluva while undergoing treatment for liver ailments. Meanwhile, her condition turned worse after developing pneumonia. She died at 10 am this morning. She was suffering from health issues for quite some time.
She will be laid to rest tomorrow evening.
People from various walks of life expressed shock over the unexpected demise of her. Condoling her death, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that she won a place in the hearts of Malayalees through reality shows and comedy programmes. A promising artist, who had a great future ahead, has been lost through the demise of Subi Suresh, he said in his message.
She was born in Tripunithura in Ernakulam. Her school and college education were at a government school in Tirupunithura and in Ernakulam St Teresa’s College. She was born to Suresh and Ambika. Her sibling is Eby Suresh. Subi liked break dance during her school days. She got into the arts field through this. She had performed stage shows abroad.
Subi Suresh is an actor who carved her own niche in the male-dominated comedy field. She had stunned the audience in stage shows. She had acted in many films and serials. Subi became popular through television shows.
She had gained attention for her unique comedy style. Subi, who became popular via mimicry and mono act, reached the mainstream via Cochin Kalabhavan. Her comedy shows were very popular. She also shone as an anchor in many television programmes.
She became a household name for her hilarious characters in the comedy show Cinemala. She was last seen in the kids show Kutty Pattalam. Her film career was through Rajasenan’s Kanaka Simhasanam. She had acted in Panchavarnathatha, Drama, 101 Wedding, Grihanathan, Killadi Raman, Lucky Jokers, Elsamma Enna Ankutty, Taskara Lahala, Happy Husbands, Detective, Dolls and many other films.
She was active in YouTube also. Her friends had mentioned that she had health issues after Covid.
