THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lokayukta gave a rejoinder to their earlier usage of “stray dog” at petitioner R S Sasikumar. Lokayukta said the statements were meant for example but not to tarnish any individual. R S Sasikumar reacted to the clarification with cutting comments saying he feel dismayed by the fall in standards of the anti-corruption ombudsman in the state.
The issue went controversial after the Lokayukta reprimanded the petitioner on April 11 with scathing comments. The same judges shied away from clarifying the comments the very next day but have now come up with explanations after a week, which adds to the doubts.
“ Lokayukta is trying to cover their guilt over the comments made with this press release. The condescending tone in the writing says that they will continue to remain the same. The clarification sounds awkward since my complaint was the judicial body attending CM's iftar treat which they have admitted to. How can a judicial body attend CM's banquet while considering a case the latter is accused of?” R S Sasikumar asked.
A judicial body coming up with a press release to clarify their double entendre is unprecedented in Kerala history.
