THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala has bagged the first rank in the food safety index prepared by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. This is the first time in history that Kerala has been ranked first in food security.
Minister Veena George said that this is a recognition of Kerala's proper and systematic activities in food security. The minister stated that this feat was achieved through the systematic activities carried out by the Food Safety Department. The minister also appreciated all the employees of the Food Safety Department who worked hard to achieve this feat.
Food Safety Commissioner VR Vinod received the award, comprising a trophy and plaque, from Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
