Rain to continue in state; yellow alert in two districts, chance of thunder and lightning

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rain will continue in the state on Friday. Yellow alert has been issued in Ernakulam and Kozhikode. There is a chance of showers with thunder and lightning in the afternoon.

The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod in the next three hours with gusty winds of up to 40 kmph.

In areas that have received heavy rains in the past few days, those in low-lying areas, river banks and mountainous areas prone to landslides should be extra cautious if the rains continue.

The National Center for Oceanographic Studies (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of high waves of 0.5 to 1.2 meters along the Kerala coast till 11.30 tonight. Fishermen and coastal residents be careful. Rain will continue in the coming days. A yellow alert has been announced in Kozhikode and Wayanad tomorrow.
