KOZHIKODE: A goodwill rally organized by DYFI took place at Konnad Beach, Kozhikode countering the recent broom protest conducted by the Mahila Morcha.
The Mahila Morcha had staged a broom strike, alleging that Konnad Beach and its vicinity were becoming hotspots for anti-social activities, disrupting the tranquility of the local residents. However, DYFI clarified that the beach is a communal space for fostering friendships and should not be monopolized by any group.
When both factions gathered at the beach, a significant police presence was observed. DYFI members engaged in songs and poetry to convey their message of unity and inclusivity. V. Wasif, the State President of DYFI, emphasized the importance of breaking down barriers that segregate individuals based on gender asserting that such divisions are contrary to Kerala's cultural ethos.
Leaders including District Secretary PC Shaiju, TK Sumesh, K Arun and K Rafeeq addressed the gathering, highlighting the need to preserve the harmonious atmosphere of the region.
BJP extended support to the Mahila Morcha during the protest. BJP District President VK Sajeevan, while inaugurating the protest meeting pledged stringent action against those involved in drug-related crimes, aiming to restore peace and order in the area.
