THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A snake catcher died following a snakebite. He has been identified as Sandeep alias Kannan (33) of Enchakkal in Chirayinkeezhu. He was staying in rented house near the Ayyankali Statue in Chirayinkeezhu.

Local residents said that Sandeep used to catch snakes at the behest of the locals. Reports say that Sandeep, who returned home with a snake caught in this manner, was bitten at around 11:30 pm last night. He was then admitted to the Chirayinkeezhu Taluk Hospital.

As his condition worsened during treatment, he was shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, but his life could not be saved. He died early Thursday morning. He leaves behind his wife Rajani.
