21-year-old bitten by snake in train? Incident in Madhurai-Punalur express

train

KOTTAYAM: Karthik (21), a native of Madurai who was travelling in bogie number 7 reported feeling symptoms consistent with a snake bite while the train was at Ettumanur. The incident happened around 9:30 this morning. He was promptly transferred to Kottayam Medical College Hospital via ambulance.

Following the incident, authorities took swift action upon the train's arrival at Kottayam railway station. Passengers from the affected bogie were relocated to another area and the bogie was securely sealed. Despite thorough inspection, no snake was found.

Railway police are currently investigating the incident and suspect that Karthik may have indeed been bitten by a snake or possibly by a rat. Police say that this can be confirmed only after the tests. Karthik remains under treatment at Kottayam Medical College. This train stops at Guruvayur yard for long hours. Earlier there were reports of rat infestation inside the train.
