Wait ends, Malayalam's beloved pair Mohanlal-Shobana to share screen after 15 years

Yes, it took almost 15 years for Malayalam’s iconic pair of Mohanlal and Shobana to join hands again for a project. They last acted as a pair in ‘Mampazhakkalam’ which was released way back in 2005 while Shobana played a small part in Mohanlal’s 2009 movie ‘Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded’. Mampazhakkalam failed to meet the box office expectations and soon, Shobana took a hiatus to focus on her dance projects.

Shobana didn’t go into oblivion but remained a strong presence on social media, alluring fans with her dance reels. However, in 2020, the ace actress took back a leap into the movie world with Varane Avashyamund, which fared well at the box office.

And now in 2024, Shobana has signed a contract in yet another Malayalam movie, which could be one of the biggest news of the year; Yes, Shobana is reuniting with actor Mohanlal. The upcoming movie to be directed by Tharun Moorthy is tentatively titled ‘L360’.

Tharun is known for his directorial debut ‘Operation Java' which received great reports while his sophomore movie 'Saudi Vellakka' won a state award. Renjith from Rejaputra Film will produce the movie which is their 14th production. The movie will be scripted by Tharun and K S Sunil duo.

As per details, Mohanlal will portray the role of a taxi driver in the film. The movie is expected to be released during the Pooja holidays in October.

“After so many years, I’m going to do a Malayalam movie. Super excited! Can you guess who my hero is? Yes!!, it is Mr Mohanlal. This is our 56th film together” Shobana shared the news on Instagram while the hit song ‘Vaalinmel Poovum’ from Mohanlal-Shobana movie Pavitram soothingly played in the background.
