LILONGWE: Nine officers who were with Chilima were also killed in the crash. President Lazarus Chakwera confirmed Saulos Chilima's death and said that the crash occurred in a mountainous part of the Chikangawa Forest. The plane they were travelling in was missing yesterday. The accident happened when he went to attend the funeral of a former minister. The wreckage of the plane was found in a hilly area in the north of the country by the search team.

The Malawi Defense Force said the plane disappeared from radar after taking off from the capital Lilongwe at 9:17am local time yesterday.
