KOLLAM: A Malayali nursing student died after collapsing in Guildford, United Kingdom. 19-year-old Nandana Jinu, daughter of P. Jinu—an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) at the Kollam Rural SP office—and N. R. Dhanya, of 'Nandanam' near Kadakkal, Kollam, died in the incident. Reports indicate that Nandana collapsed after returning to her room to rest following a meal yesterday evening, which subsequently led to her death.

Nandana arrived in the UK on the 21st of last month, through a private agency based in Ernakulam, to pursue nursing studies at the University of Surrey in Guildford. She resided near the university.

Arrangements to repatriate Nandana’s mortal remains to her home country are currently underway, coordinated by university authorities and Malayali community organisations. Nandana’s cousin (paternal uncle’s daughter) and her family are also in the UK. She is survived by her sister, Gopika, and her brother-in-law, Arun.
