LAHORE: Pakistan's javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, who won gold with a meet record in the Paris Olympics, is getting a big welcome in the country. Even when he arrived at the Lahore airport at 3 am on Sunday, thousands of people came to the airport to receive the sportsman. The player surpassed India's Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra by throwing the javelin 92.97 meters.
Pakistanis are celebrating their first individual gold medal in Olympic history. Pakistani film stars, cricketers and political leaders are also coming forward to praise the star. Nadeem is receiving many things as welcome gifts. The father-in-law gave him a buffalo. The gifting of buffalo is considered "very valuable" and "honourable" in Nadeem's village.

Buffaloes are seen as a symbol of wealth and prosperity by the villagers. Giving a buffalo as a gift is also part of paying great respect. From the time Nadeem was preparing to become a javelin thrower, the locals used to raise money for him to go to competitions and for training. Therefore, the olympian is never ready to leave the village.

Although gifting a buffalo is a ritual and a traditional thing, the gift given to Nadeem by a businessman in Pakistan is facing a lot of criticism on the social media. A businessman named Ali Sheikhani is the one who gifted Nadeem an Alto car. The criticisms say that 'he deserves a BMW or Audi' and money should be paid to Arshad Nadeem’s nutritionist, trainer, or other support staff to help him break the world record in javelin
