Dispute over cuttlefish; fisherman attacked by coworkers

VIZHINJAM: A person was beaten up in a dispute over a cuttlefish. Muthappan, a native of Pulluvila, was beaten up by the workers accompanying him. According to the complaint lodged with the police, Muthappan was attacked by his co-workers, alleging that he had taken one of the squids they had captured when they went fishing in a group. Muthappan suffered injuries on his body and head and is undergoing treatment at a hospital. The incident took place on the 28th at Adimalathura beach. The cuttlefishes they had captured were auctioned and sold. Muthappan took one of the cuttlefishes that they had kept aside for their own homes. A dispute that followed is what resulted in the assault. The Vizhinjam police have registered a case against three persons in connection with the incident.
