Domestic quarrel ends in murder: Husband strangles wife with shawl in Palakkad

PALAKKAD: A 31-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband with a shawl following an argument. The incident occurred around 3.30 pm on Sunday at Koduvayur in Palakkad. The deceased was Anupriya of Thekke Veedu, Ethanoor. Her husband, Manikandan, was taken into custody by the Puthunagaram police following the incident. The couple had been living in a rented house at Pittupedika.

Police said the couple had been involved in frequent domestic disputes. Manikandan allegedly strangled Anupriya during an argument on Sunday. Police suspect that she died of suffocation. After the incident, Manikandan reportedly called the police station and informed officers about the death. A police team subsequently reached the house and took him into custody.

Following inquest proceedings, Anupriya's body was shifted to the mortuary of the Palakkad District Hospital for post-mortem examination. The couple have two daughters, Anamika and Athmika. Further proceedings are underway.
