MUMBAI: Antilia, the residence of Mukesh Ambani, Asia's richest man and his family, is one of the most expensive homes in the world. Situated in Mumbai, this 27-storey building spans over 400,000 square feet and was constructed at an estimated cost of ₹15,000 crore. Designed by American architectural firms Perkins & Will and Hirsch Bedner Associates, Antilia's construction began in 2008 and was completed in just two years.
Standing 173 meters tall, Antilia is named after a mythical island in the Atlantic Ocean. The building has gained global attention not only for its extravagant design but also for its impressive features, including three helipads, multi-story car parking and three high-speed elevators. It is also built to withstand earthquakes up to a magnitude of 8.0 on the Richter scale.
The Ambani family occupies the 27th floor of the skyscraper, with the lower 25 floors reportedly uninhabited. Mukesh Ambani’s sons and their families also reside on the same floor. The decision to live on the top floor was made by Nita Ambani. In interviews, Nita Ambani has shared that she chose the top floor to ensure that every room receives ample natural light and breeze, prioritizing comfort along with luxury.
It is said that only close family members and friends have access to the 27th floor, making it a highly exclusive area within the already luxurious residence.
