Do not burn crackers in these areas during Diwali; violators will face legal action

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over India. During Diwali, people light lamps in their homes, temples, and other places. The festival is a celebration of lights. In Kerala, Diwali is synonymous with fireworks. We often see people bursting crackers on the roads and elsewhere during the Diwali days.

Fireworks are banned in specific areas, regardless of the occasion. Those who set off fireworks in these restricted zones, even unintentionally, may face legal repercussions. According to government regulations, no fireworks are allowed within 100 meters of hospitals, courts, educational institutions, or places of worship.

This move is part of efforts to control air pollution. The action is taken considering the Supreme Court's order and the State Pollution Control Board's guidelines. To reduce pollution, authorities urge citizens to opt for eco-friendly or "green" crackers.
