Cricket returns to Kerala: India-West Indies ODI in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27, Sanju retains T20I spot

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squads for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against the West Indies. The three-match ODI series will begin in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27. The series will also feature five T20Is, with the T20I leg scheduled from October 6 to 17. The other two ODIs will be played in Guwahati on September 30 and New Chandigarh on October 3.

Shubman Gill will lead the ODI side, which includes senior players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja. Mohammed Siraj has also been included in the squad. KL Rahul has been named vice-captain and the first-choice wicketkeeper, while Dhruv Jurel is the second wicketkeeper. Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer have not been included in the ODI squad. Ruturaj Gaikwad, meanwhile, has returned to the one-day side. The squad also includes first-time ODI call-ups for Auqib Nabi and Naman Dhir.

Shreyas Iyer will captain the T20I side, with Tilak Varma as his deputy. Malayali star Sanju Samson has retained his place in the squad. Bumrah has also been left out of the T20I team, while Mayank Yadav has been included.

T20I squad: Shreyas Iyer (captain), Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Tilak Varma (vice-captain), Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav and Mayank Yadav.
