Renowned astrologer Mithran Namboothiripad passes away

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Renowned astrologer Poonjar Mithran Namboothiripad (95) passed away on Saturday. He breathed his last on Friday evening while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He had been living at his residence near Manikanteswaram temple in Vattiyoorkavu. He had a profound knowledge of Vedas, music, dance and various languages.

Mithran Namboothiripad is a member of the Elapprakkodathu Mana in Eroor, Trippunithura. He was the astrologer of prominent political leaders, including Indira Gandhi and Jayalalithaa. At present, he is the tantri of Pournamikavu Bala Tripura Sundari Devi Temple.

He has received several awards including the Arsha Jnana Saraswati Award of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Wife: Late Bhavani Thamburatti. Children: Manjula Varma, Ajaya Varma Raja and Ranjini Varma. The funeral will take place at Vadakkumbhagathu Mana in Eroor, Trippunithura at 11 am on Sunday.
