BENGALURU: An IPS probationary officer died in an accident while he was on his way to take up his first posting in Karnataka. The dead is Harsh Bardhan aged 25 of Madhya Pradesh and 2023 batch IPS officer of Karnataka cadre. The accident happened Sunday evening near Kittane border of Hassan-Mysuru highway.
The accident happened when tyre of the police vehicle the officer was travelling in burst and the driver identified as Manjegowda lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a house and tree by the roadside. Harsh died while he was being taken to Bengaluru for treatment. He sustained severe head injuries and died in the hospital while undergoing treatment.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah offered condolences to his family and said "this should not have happened when years of hard work were paying off".
Harsh had recently completed a four-week training program at the Karnataka Police Academy in Mysuru before heading to his posting.
