THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A junior artist coordinator working within the Malayalam serial industry, alleged misbehaviour from a production executive. According to the complaint, a production executive named Asim Fazi approached her inappropriately at Chitranjali Studio.
Victim:
“It was during a night shoot on the 19th of July. That's when the incident happened. Asim came from behind and grabbed me. He was drunk. I was shattered but held to my poise and ran away to be alongside the other junior artists. I told them what happened and also revealed the incident to the producer. He requested me not to complain and promised to settle the issue. However, nothing happened and Asim continued with his shenanigans.
In most serial sets, women especially junior artists are compelled to do ‘adjustments’. Junior artists are threatened with dismissal if they disagree.
Asim remained as a trouble and I complained again with the producer. As a result, he was taken off work from two serials. But soon, Asim returned to work and all the words of the promise given to me ended up as a sham.
This should not happen to any other artist. Till now, I decided not to complain to the police, taking into belief the words of the producer. But now, I am forced to register a complaint with Thiruvallam police.”
