THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala is expected to continue experiencing high temperatures until the end of this week. According to weather authorities, the current conditions are likely to persist until April 18. Palakkad recorded the highest temperature in the state at 40°C, particularly in areas around Malampuzha Dam. The figures are based on Tuesday’s data. Kollam recorded the second-highest temperature at 38°C.
Temperatures of 37°C were recorded in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod, while Thiruvananthapuram recorded 36°C. Despite being midway through April, Kerala has received very little summer rainfall this year. Compared to previous years, rainfall has been minimal across the state.
With temperatures reaching 40°C, the heat has become intense, making it difficult for people to go outdoors during the daytime. The weather department has indicated the possibility of isolated light rain and thunderstorms in the coming days. Authorities have advised the public to remain cautious as the heat intensifies. People are urged to avoid direct exposure to sunlight between 10 AM and 3 PM. During these hours, ultraviolet rays are strong, increasing the risk of sunstroke, skin problems, and eye-related issues.
