Delhi: Malayali mother and daughter found dead in apparent murder

NEW DELHI: A Malayali mother and daughter were found dead in a house here. They were identified as Sumitha Vatsya (48) and Smritha Vatsya (25). The bodies were found around 8.30 am in Mansara Apartments in Vasundara Enclave at East Delhi.

Sumitha was working at a nonprofit organization in Delhi and Smritha was undergoing training after completing hotel management studies. Sumitha husband passed away 20 years ago.

The bodies were found in a pool of blood by the housemaid who came to their residence early in the morning. The police suspect the involvement of Vikrant Nagar (Vinay) in this apparent murders. According to their friends, there was a rift in the relationship between Smritha and Vikranth.

The neighbours also said that Vikrant and another person came to the flat where the mother and daughter were staying.

The New Ashok Nagar police have registered a murder case and initiated the probe. The police have also recovered CCTV footages of the flat. The bodies of Sumtha and Smritha, kept at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, will be handed over to the relatives after post mortem.
