NEW DELHI: Moves are underway to take Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the 'Cockroach Janata Party', into custody ahead of a planned 'Tiranga March' (Tricolour March). As part of this, a Delhi Police team arrived at Dipke’s residence in Jhandewalan this afternoon and served him a notice. Footage of the incident emerged, in which Dipke can be heard asking a police officer, "Is there not even the freedom to hoist the national flag in this country?"
Sources associated with the CJP alleged that this unexpected move by the Delhi Police is an attempt to block the 'Tiranga March' scheduled to take place at Connaught Place. It is understood that the CJP remains firm in its stance that the 'Tiranga March' will proceed, even if Dipke is taken into custody.
Dipke called for a 'Tiranga March' (Tricolour March), demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the suspension of the SIR (likely referring to the NPR/NRC-related processes). Dipke had also urged CJP activists to gather at Central Park this evening at 5:00 PM, carrying the tricolour flag. He had clarified recently that the objective of the protest is to hoist the national flag, an act that does not constitute an offence.
Following this, the Centre strengthened security in Delhi. As part of these heightened security measures, approximately 20,000 security personnel—including those from paramilitary forces—have been deployed across various locations, and prohibitory orders imposed in Connaught Place and its surrounding areas.
