Kerala reports 1129 COVID-19 cases on Saturday; 880 cases through contact

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala has confirmed 1129 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, health minister KK Shailaja said.

Among the new cases, 880 persons developed the disease through contact, 89 persons came from abroad and 114 from other states. There are 58 cases without an identified source of infection. 24 health workers developed the disease on Saturday.

Meanwhile, 752 coronavirus patients tested negative for the disease on Saturday.

The state also reported 8 COVID deaths on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Malappuram Kondotty native Koyamu (82), Ernakulam Aluva native Asharaf (52), Ernakulam native Angel (81), Thiruvananthapuram Nedumangad native Babu (62), Kozhikode native Noushad (49), Kasargod native Abdul Rahman (72), Kollam native Asuma Beevi (73) and Thrissur Irinjalakkuda native Chandran (59).

Kozhikode- 95
Pathanamthitta- 85
Thrissur-76
Alappuzha- 67
Ernakulam- 59
Kottayam- 47
Palakkad- 47
Wayanad- 46
Kollam- 35
Idukki- 14
Kannur- 5


17 more regions have been identified as COVID hotspots in the state, while 23 regions were removed from the list of hotspots. At present, there are 492 hotspots in the state.
