'Time not yet to criticise UDF government'; MoS Suresh Gopi responds to Kerala's power crisis

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Minister Suresh Gopi refrained from criticising the UDF government regarding the state's current power crisis. The Union minister said previous governments also bore responsibility for the situation, and opined it was too early to criticise the government.

When asked why such a crisis had not occurred in the last ten years, he countered by asking for an account of what had actually transpired during that decade. Suresh Gopi also criticised the media, alleging malicious intent behind their questions aimed at eliciting criticism.

In the last few days, Suresh Gopi said he was receiving unprecedented support from the state government, noting that one could approach anyone—including the Chief Minister—regarding any matter. Speaking to the media while attending various events in Thrissur, he remarked that this cooperation would facilitate the implementation of central schemes in the state. He also described the police raid on Reporter TV as a routine procedure, asking what special privileges journalists have that exempt them from the obligations of tax-paying citizens.

Suresh Gopi said it was normal for officials to confiscate phones while conducting such raids.
