MUMBAI: The body of a 27-year-old man, a Tuberculosis patient who was reported missing earlier, was found in a decomposed state at a hospital in Mumbai.
The body was found in a decomposed state and was found lying in the toilet floor in the hospital.
A hospital ward boy, who noticed a foul smell emanating from one of the locked toilets, found Suryabhan Yadav's body there, sources said. The hospital staff then informed the police.
The hospital said that the man was also a COVID-19 patient and it appears to be a "natural death".
"It appears to be a natural death. The patient was COVID-19 positive and had Tuberculosis," the hospital's administrative staff said.
The hospital staff also said that a missing complaint of the patient, who was found dead, was registered on October 4. They said that they believed that the patient could have died owing to breathing problems while he was in the toilet.
Meanwhile, the BMC has ordered an inquiry into the incident and issued notices to the working staffers of the hospital.
Police said an accidental death report (ADR) has been registered at the RAK Marg police station in Mumbai.
Reacting to the incident, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya lashed out at the Maharashtra government and BMC and questioned hospital authorities.
