Asian Games: Shooters bag gold and silver on day 6 for India

NAGOYA: India made an impressive start on the sixth day of Asian Games, with shooters delivering outstanding performances. Suruchi and Kamaljeet won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. The Indian duo clinched the gold by setting a new Asian record. With this, India's overall medal tally touched 19.

In the men's 50m rifle three positions team event, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Neeraj Kumar, and Rudransh Patil won the silver medal.

India also secured medals in other events. In table tennis, Diya Chitale and Manush Shah advanced to the mixed doubles semifinals, assuring India of a medal. In squash, the pair of Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar also reached the mixed doubles semifinals, guaranteeing themselves at least a bronze medal.

India's women's hockey team also secured a semifinal berth. The Indian women entered the last four after defeating Japan 3-1 in their Pool B match.

Kabaddi is India's main focus on the sixth day, with both the men's and women's teams set to compete in the semifinals.

Indian athletes are also aiming for notable performances in track and field events. The women's shot put and pole vault, along with the men's 10,000m race and hammer throw, are among the key events scheduled for the day.
