THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan has said that customs have not summoned him to interrogate in connection with the dollar transfer case. “Those are just creations of the media. It is the party which decide whether I should contest in the elections,” he said.
Nass Abdullah, a friend of speaker has been questioned by customs in connection with the dollar transfer case. Customs has also found out that a SIM card being used by the speaker was taken under Nass’s name. Nass was interrogated by customs in connection with the case in which Khalid, the former chief accounting officer of UAE consulate transferred dollars abroad.
Since last July, the day when the smuggled gold via diplomatic baggage was caught by customs, the SIM taken under Nass’s name was not functioning. Nass was questioned further to know more details about the case. Following this, news spread that customs will soon question the speaker also. The speaker has finally denied this news.
Speaker’s assistant private secretary K Ayyapan was questioned in connection with the case on January 8th by the customs department. Ayyapan was questioned to collect more information on Speaker’s travel history and details of speakers’ visitors. Meanwhile, M Sivasankar who was arrested last week by customs in connection with the case has filed bail plea. Customs says that Sivasankar is involved in the Rs 15 crore worth dollar transfer case.
