40-year-old held for kidnapping girl from college

THRISSUR: The police have arrested the accused in the case of threatening and abducting a college student. Town West station sub inspector K N Vijayan arrested the accused identified as Noushad (40) of Kaipamangalam. He befriended the student studying in Thrissur Kerala Varma College via mobile phone. In the meanwhile, he managed to get some photos of the girl. Without revealing that he is married and have children, he proposed to her. He did not show much interest when the girl agreed to get married with the consent of both families. Her father lodged a complaint after her daughter went missing on November 29 with the West Station.

In an investigation it was found that Noushad had also left the place. A probe focusing on the mobile phone traced the two in Kalady, Ernakulam. She told police that when she was returning from college after exams, he threatened to publicise her photos and kidnapped her in a vehicle. The accused produced in the court has been remanded. Sub inspectors’ K R Remin, K N Vijayan, assistant sub inspectors’ K K Santhosh, Sindhu, CPO Shreeju Krishnan were present in the team.
