THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government once again received a setback as Governor Arif Mohammad Khan refused to receive the notice sent by the High Court yesterday on the petition questioning the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor of Kannur University. The governor has directed that the notice be handed over to the government. He said that he will not remain as Chancellor from January 8 and that the High Court notice should be handed over to the Chancellor. He added that the government should decide on the notice.

The court will hear the case on January 12. It was earlier announced that the Advocate General would not be appearing for the Governor. The governor had written to the CM expressing his displeasure over political appointments in the state-run universities and urged him to amend the Acts of the Universities and take over as Chancellor. However, the LDF alleged that there were political motives behind the governor's statements.
