I don't remember being assaulted by police, although I was drunk I boarded train after taking ticket, says Ponnan Shameer

KOZHIKODE: Ponnan Shameer, the person who was assaulted by the police the other day on a train, has responded to the media. Shameer spoke to the media while he was being taken to the railway police station for questioning. He said that he did not remember being kicked by the police and that he came to know about the incident recently. He also admitted that he boarded the train after getting drunk.


"I boarded the Maveli Express with a ticket of Rs 35. I remember the police coming to me and asking for ticket. However, I do not remember what happened after that. After being dropped off the train, I remained in the vicinity of the railway station. Later, I went to Kozhikode. I came to know about the incident only then," Shameer said.


Police said that they would give out more details about the incident after recording Shameer's statement. After questioning, Shameer will be taken to his house in Koothuparamba.
