KOTTAYAM: Mehboob, an expatriate businessman from Kottayam, has said that he was not the VIP who helped Dileep in the actress assault. He said that although he knew Dileep, he had not visited the actor's house recently.

"Although I have a business relationship with Dileep, I visited his house only once. That was three years ago. I went to meet him in connection with the opening of 'Dhe Puttu' in Qatar. Kavya, her mother and father were present there," Mehboob said.

"I went that day to invite him for the hotel inauguration. I do not remember whether Dileep had obtained bail by then. My visit had nothing to do with the case. I don't know Dileep's brother or brother-in-law. Dileep calls me 'Ikka'. I don't know Balachandra Kumar. Let the police prove what he says," he said.

"I am ready to co-operate with anything, including a narco-analysis test. I came to know about the stories spreading about me through my friends. No investigating officials have contacted me yet," Mehboob added.

Balachandra Kumar had informed the police that it was a VIP who handed over the visuals of the attack to Dileep. The so-called VIP had arrived at Dileep's house the day Balachandra Kumar was there to discuss a film. Balachandra Kumar had also said that the VIP had contacted a minister following Dileep's instruction that DGP B Sandhya should be excluded from the probe into the case.
