62 more people confirmed with Omicron in Kerala as tally rises to 700

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George on Thursday said that 62 more people in the state have been confirmed with the Omicron variant of Covid-19. Districtwise, 14 cases were confirmed in Thrissur, Kannur 11, Pathanamthitta 9, Ernakulam 8, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram 5 each, Kollam, Alappuzha, Palakkad and Kasaragod 2 each and Idukki one. One person is a native of Tamil Nadu who came from UAE. 49 came from low risk countries and one from high risk countries. Four were from other states. 8 people contracted Omicron through contact.

So far, a total of 707 people in the state have been confirmed with Omicron. 483 came from low risk countries and 108 came from high risk countries. A total of 88 people were infected through contact. 28 people from other states were confirmed with the Covid variant, said the minister.
