Fear rules CM; permission denied for adjournment motion on Lokayukta ordinance, opposition stages walkout

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition staged a walkout from the state assembly in protest against denying permission for an adjournment motion on the Lokayukta ordinance. What is the need for a Lokayukta now? It should be dissolved, demanded opposition leader V D Satheesan. What was the rush to bring the ordinance?, asked the opposition.

The Lokayukta Act was amended when a case came against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The law was weakened to save his favoured ones, criticized Satheesan. Fear is ruled by the chief minister, he added.

The law amendment was not even discussed in the front. Why is the chief minister scared? The opposition demanded that the CPI ministers should also be convinced of what the minister and the government have said in the matter. If a law expires, then the assembly has the authority to amend it, said Law Minister P Rajeev. He also scoffed at the opposition saying that the bill could be discussed when it comes before the house.
