THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dr Rema's crucial findings have helped the police a lot in several murder cases that have gained public attention. Hundred percent accuracy and precision made Rema a favourite of the police as well. Dr Rema's report was crucial in the Salim murder case in Varkala where a man was hacked to pieces and left in black garbage bags.

Rema's findings were also instrumental in the investigation into the murder of Marykutty in Kundara, Kollam and the murder of Sister Annie in Thiruvananthapuram. The Supreme Court had lauded her findings on how methyl alcohol causes loss of vision and changes in the body during the investigation into the Kalluvathukkal hooch tragedy.

Dr Rema's findings also proved that the death of a youth named Akku in Alappuzha, whose body was found lying on a railway track, was a murder. Rema had found that Akku's head was not hit by the train and that the body was dumped on the track after the murder. Rema had entered the forensic field at a time when women were reluctant to enter the field of postmortem.

Rema showed extraordinary courage and resilience. She had a large following of disciples.
