KOZHIKODE: The DYFI came to the fore with an explanation on the marriage of Shejin of Kodenchery and Joysna. The DYFI on its official Facebook page said the reference to jihad was a fabricated agenda and that established forces were deliberately trying to weaken Kerala's secular and cultural heritage through jihad.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has repeatedly stated in the assembly and in public that there is no love jihad in Kerala. The DYFI said they would extend all possible support to the married DYFI regional secretary Shejin and Joysna. State secretary V K Sanoj said secular marriage is not a bad thing and the DYFI fully accept them. Sanoj pointed out that such marriages have taken place in Kerala before and that DYFI has given its support there too, and that it was DYFI that even started secular matrimony to promote secular marriages.
