THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It has been found that 30,416 people who received financial assistance under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in Kerala were ineligible. Of these, 21,018 are income taxpayers. The Union Finance Ministry has asked the state government to recover the amount from the ineligible beneficiaries.

Out of 31 crores, only 4.90 crores have been recovered so far. In Kerala, Rs 5,600 crore has been transferred directly to the beneficiaries bank accounts for the last three years. Under the scheme, the government provides an amount of Rs 6,000 per year to the farmers that is transferred in three four-monthly instalments. 37.2 lakh people in Kerala have joined the PM Kisan scheme.
