Keralite killed in gas cylinder blast in Abu Dhabi

VENMANI: Two persons, including a Malayali, were killed in a gas cylinder blast in Abu Dhabi. The incident took place on Monday. The deceased Keralite has been identified as Venmani native R Sreekumar.

Sreekumar was an employee of Qayamat Company in Khalidi, Abu Dhabi. The cylinder exploded at a nearby Malayalee restaurant. Sources said that a piece of metal from the restaurant pierced Sreekumar's body following the explosion. Although he was soon rushed to the hospital, he could not be saved. Several people were injured after the building collapsed soon after the explosion. Of them, the health condition of 56 people is satisfactory.

Sreekumar left for Abu Dhabi three months ago. He is the son of ex-serviceman Ramakrishnan Nair and Ponnamma.
