KOLLAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said that there are a lot of greedy and corrupt people in the local bodies and the government will take stern action against such people.

"Everyone knows where corrupt people will end up. If the officials continue with their corrupt practices, they will also have to go and stay there," the CM said. He was inaugurating the state-level academic community at the C Keshavan Memorial Town Hall under the leadership of Sreenarayanaguru Open University.

"The government will not encourage corruption in any way. Those in charge of local government should not remain helpless. They should take strict action. The misdeeds of the institutions must end. There are those who consider bribes as their right. Strict action will be taken against them," he said.

"There are many development projects coming up across the state. Officials must show a healthy approach towards these. They should not do anything irregular or illegal," he added. Minister Dr R Bindu presided over the function. Minister KN Balagopal inaugurated the Academic Block and released the Strategic Planning Document.
