THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The chief minister has sought an explanation from Minister Saji Cherian for his statement against the Constitution. The chief minister asked him to explain the circumstances under which the statement was made. The chief minister sought an explanation from the minister after Raj Bhavan intervened in the matter.

The minister replied that he did not criticize the Constitution but the administration. Raj Bhavan is examining the speech. Raj Bhavan informed that the minister's remarks against the Constitution of India are seen seriously. The Governor is likely to respond today itself.

Saji Cheriyan harshly criticised the Constitution saying it helps to loot the people of the country. The minister made the statement while speaking at a recent political programme at Mallappally.

When the incident stoked a controversy, the speech was deleted from the Facebook page of Mallappally area committee. Meantime, CPM Pathanamthitta district secretary K P Udayabhanu responded that the minister spoke about the condition of the people of the country and this is media’s interpretation.

The minister spoke in the sense that despite having a beautiful Constitution in the country, none of the country's problems have been solved. Ours is the country with the most starving people in the world. There are children in India who are not healthy. They don’t have homes in India.

In India, people died without getting oxygen during Covid time. He spoke about the situation of the people in India, justified Udayabhanu.

The minister also criticised the court in his speech. The minister said that even if gone to the court, the decision will be in favour of the bigwigs and cannot even ask for a reasonable wage. Eight hours of work but no rest of eight hours. If gone to the court if wages are not obtained, the court will ask why staged the strike.

Will blame the labour unions for any issue that happens in the state. The minister added that the reason why Ambani and Adani have grown in the country is because of the protection given to them by the Indian Constitution.
